H.E. Al Jaafari's biting wit: Do not fear the filming...we're talking about peace coming from Syria."

Dr. Bashar Al Jaafari is indeed the golden icon of peace and diplomacy. During the opening of the Vienna talks on 25 January, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations presented a special gift to UN Spec. Envoy for Syria, Mr. Staffan de Mistura. The gift is a unique and historical icon from ancient Idleb. It was wrapped exquisitely in a history lesson for the envoy.

Dr. Al Jaafari began with its name, “Antami:  I belong to — I belong to the Syrian civilization and not to a Turkish aggression occurring now in Idleb and not the American aggression against Raqqa and Jazeera.”

Presentation of the icon of the oldest peace treaty in the world was the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism.

The historians claim the oldest peace treaty is from the Battle of Qadesh, between the Hittites and Pharaohs, 1250 BC.  But this icon found in Tal Mardikh, Idlib Syria, between the kingdoms of Ebal and Prasal is 1200 years older.

Finally, from Syria: I’m a Syrian citizen living in Syria and as all other Syrians say, you’re our icon Dr. Jaafari, and your message of peace is more powerful than their intercontinental ballistic missiles, as a great Syrian friend always says.

Because you always counter them with the truth, the truth which comes from a hero man who studied history well. Our ambassador is not a normal man, he is not a typical man. He is an exceptional Syrian diplomat who represents all Syrians, and not like the puppets the West are used to dealing with in Saudi or Qatar.
