Israel Takes Advantage of the Syrian Crisis and Brings a US Company to Explore for Oil in the Golan

Israel has taken advantage of the crisis in Syria and awarded a US energy company a license for oil exploration in the occupied Golan in an attempt to entrench its hold on the area.
Energy sources said on Thursday that the decision to issue the first oil-exploration permit in the Golan to the New Jersey-based company Genie Energy came after the Israeli regime opted to allow oil and gas exploration there, Reuters reported.
Pundits say the move was pushed by Israeli National Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau to convey the message that the Golan would not easily be returned to Syria.

Israel captured the Golan from Syria during the Six-Day War of 1967, when it also took control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The Syria crisis began in March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security forces, have been killed in the violence.
The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals…JA
