Iran: Countries which helped Terrorists in Syria should be held responsible

Boroujerdi: Countries which have helped the armed groups in Syria should be held responsible.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, warned in new statements on Tuesday against the risks of any military strike on Syria. Alaeddin Boroujerdi warned that any war of aggression against Syria would only inflame the entire region of the Middle East. He further stressed that the parties, which incite the aggression against Syria, are declining.

The Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council is currently in Lebanon and he has held several talks with some Lebanese officials about the situation in Lebanon, the Syrian conflict and the threats by the US administration in Washington to launch a military strike on Syria.

After the meeting between the Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Miqati, and the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, an official press statement was published.

The press statement following the meeting of Najib Miqati and Alaeddin Boroujerdi in Beirut says that the Iranian administration has deep concerns about the US threats against Damascus. Further, the press statement called on all sites involved in the Syrian conflict and supporting a possible US-led strike on Syria that they should better unify efforts to prevent the launch of a US-led military attack against the Syrian government.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, also warned during another meeting that any foreign military aggression against Syria would mean the “beginning of the outbreak of a dangerous crisis in the Middle East region,” and that any military strike by foreign forces on Damascus has dire consequences for the entire region of the Middle East. This meeting took place between Alaeddin Boroujerdi and the Lebanese Caretaker Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Adnan Mansour.

Of course, the statement(s) by Alaeddin Boroujerdi are correct, because a US-led war on Syria would not resolve the Syrian conflict or help the Syrian people, but it would increase the suffering of the Syrian people and the level of violence in the Arab country. In addition, a military strike by Washington against Damascus would have dire consequences for the entire region and could even trigger a larger war – even a new world war (WWIII) under consideration of Syria’s allies and possible reactions by Russia, Iran and China.

During his visit in the Lebanese capital Beirut, the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council also affirmed that the Israeli regime in Tel Aviv would probably be the first victim of a war against Syria. Alaeddin Boroujerdi affirmed that Israel will be the first party which will be affected by the impacts of a US-led military attack on Syria and that the Zionist entity is certainly the first victim of such a military action by Washington against Syria in the region. This is not the first time that an Iranian official mentioned the Israeli regime as the first victim of a US-led military strike on Syria.

He also underlined during his visit in Lebanon that the views of the Lebanese officials and ministers and the stance of Iran in terms of Syria and towards the US threats against Damascus were completely identical. Both sides would have completely identical positions and views in terms of the threats by Washington against Damascus and the risk endangering the Middle Eastern region that are “represented in the conspiracies plotted by the US.”

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the Chairman of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee at the Iranian Shura Council, also said that the Iranian administration hopes that the members of the US Congress will “show self-restraint and rationality” and that the US Congress rejects a possible US-led military strike on Syria.

He also underlined in these new statements during his visit of Lebanon that Tehran and Beirut would share a mutual concern over the issue of the technique of making chemical bombs falling into the hands of the foreign-backed terrorist groups on Syrian soil.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi afterwards pointed out that all the foreign countries which have supported “this dangerous technique reach the armed groups” in Syria should be held responsible for this kind of support for the armed terrorists on Syrian territory.
