chemical attack war syria

Syria / Maloula / Maaloula

Russia: Those, who want a military intervention in Syria, are supported by the hysteria around chemical attack.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a new statement after the allegations that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has used chemical weapons against terrorist groups and even Syrian civilians in Jobar and other suburbs of Damascus last week, that the West has engineered a media campaign against Syria in order to facilitate a military incursion.

Same kind of media campaign as it is already known from the time before the war against e.g. Iraq. Further, there is still no evidence that the units of the Syrian Army have used chemical weapons against the foreign-backed terrorist groups and Syrian civilians. However, a war against a sovereign state in the Middle East, even without evidence and just based on propaganda and lies in order to maintain the political agendas in the region is possible, confirmed by the events in recent years.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov not only said in his statement that there is no evidence for the allegations of several Western governments, but also stated that Moscow has doubts on the veracity of the claims by Washington, Britain, France and other governments in Europe in terms of the alleged incident.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, the governments of the United States, France and UK say that they have “incontrovertible evidence that the Syrian government is behind the chemical attack in Damascus”, but that these governments have not yet shown the evidence for these allegations against the Syrian governments in terms of the use of chemical weapons against Syrian civilians and terrorists last week (e.g. in Jobar, near Damascus).

Sergey Lavrov added to his statement that these governments keep saying that the “red line has been crossed” – although they did not present their evidence for the allegations against Damascus and while Russia doubts that there is evidence in the hands of these Western governments.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov further stated, that Moscow is currently hearing calls for a military campaign and attack against Syria. Lavrov said in detail that the Russian administration is now “hearing calls for a military campaign against Bashar Assad.”

The Minister from Moscow added that Britain, Washington, France and other countries have already assembled a “powerful force” and that these Western governments are “readying their” warships and warplanes for a possible invasion in Syria.

The Russian Minister also added that the current development would set the world on a perilous path and that the repeat of the Libyan and Iraqi scenario would also be a terrible mistake by the Western powers. In addition, the “bringing in” of outside forces in terms of the Syrian conflict would be a “terrible mistake” that will only lead to “more blood being spilt,” according to Sergey Lavrov.

The Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov also reserved a particular outrage for the newly-mooted possibility of NATO staging airstrikes on chemical storage facilities in Syria without mandate by the United Nations (UN). The Russian Foreign Minister stated that Moscow has no plans to go to war and that the administration in the Russian capital hopes that “others think of long-term interests.”
