WhatsApp, the popular cross-platform instant messenger, has finally reached more than 300 million active users, as it has been announced by the WhatsApp Inc. today. At the same time, the start-up company from California, USA, announced that it will introduce a new feature in their instant messenger App for Windows Phone, Android, iOS and BlackBerry – voice messaging.

This allows the quick and easy sending of fast voice messaging and is thereby completely independent from the used platform, of course.

The current user base includes more than 250 million active users has been announced by WhatsApp about two months ago. A sixth part, and thereby 50 million new users, has thus been the growth of WhatsApp in terms of the user base within the last two months.

Such a growth in this short time is honestly just impressive. All alone from India, Spain, Mexico and Germany, there are each more than 20 million new users of WhatsApp. 31 billion messages are registered daily by WhatsApp. The sum is formed from 11 billion sent messages and 20 billion received messages of the cross-platform instant messenger, which integrates the voice messaging-feature today.

Jan Koum, the company’s co-founder and CEO, said in a recent interview with AllThingsD that WhatsApp is rolling out voice messaging for all of its apps – for Apple iOS, Android OS, BlackBerry OS as well as for the Microsoft Windows Phone OS.

He further said that the new voice messaging feature was a “carefully designed pet project” over the past six months.  According to the statements by Jan Koum, the users of WhatsApp are sharing about 325 million photos per day currently.

In regards of the implementation of the new voice messaging feature, the WhatsApp application does not need a new update over the relevant App Store of Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Nokia or Apple iOS.

The user interface of WhatsApp will be changed on the server side and it will take up to 24 hours till every user of WhatsApp will be able to use the new voice messaging feature on his iOS/Android/WindowsPhone device.

For sending voice messages, the users have to just tap on the microphone icon within the messaging screen of WhatsApp – beside the input field for the usual messages. Of course, the users are able to cancel the voice messages and the transmitting quality is said to be very excellent. We will see…
