Iraqi-Syrian border: Security forces arrest further terrorists.

While Iraqi security forces were able to arrest three terrorists at the Iraqi border to Syria, the governments of Brazil and Venezuela have in principle renewed their rejections of any foreign meddling and interference in the Syrian affairs.

The Iraqi security forces at the border to the neighbouring country of Syria were able to arrest three terrorists. The arrested terrorists tried to smuggle several weapons from Iraq into the territories of Syria. According to the statements by a security source from Iraq, the Iraqi security forces have arrested three terrorists, including a leader of the so-called “Free Syrian Army” (FSA). The terrorists were arrested in an ambush by the Iraqi security forces.

The terrorists were captured in their attempt to smuggle weapons to Syria’s Deir ez-Zor (some write it Deir-Ezzor) in the south-western area of the Iraqi Province of Kirkuk. The military source from Iraq explained in his statements that there is a Syrian-Iraqi network that tries to smuggle weapons from Iraq to the neighbouring country of Syria and that the Iraqi Army has been able to arrest dozens of terrorists during the last month.

The majority of the arrested terrorists are said to belong to the terrorist network of Al-Qaeda and radical groups with deep links to the terrorist organization of Al-Qaeda. The majority of the arrested terrorists by Iraqi security forces and border guards at the Iraqi-Syrian border were arrested during their infiltration to the Syrian territories from Iraq and vice versa last month.

In addition, the Iraqi Army has successfully destroyed several camps and dens of these terrorists near the Syrian-Iraqi border, besides the discovering of hideouts of these terrorists, which were filled with weapons and explosives in different areas on the Syrian-Iraqi borders.

As mentioned above, Venezuela and Brazil have in principle renewed their rejection of foreign interferences in the internal affairs of Syria. The representative of the government of Venezuela at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Julio Escalona, said during a session of the UN Security Council on the protection of civilians held yesterday, that the supply of arms and “military aid” into the hands of extremist groups and mercenaries, who are fighting in Syria, only leads to an increase of the violence and terrorist acts by foreign-backed extremist groups against Syrian civilians.

Venezuela’s permanent representative to the UN, Julio Escalona, further stressed at this session of the UN Security Council (UNSC) that Venezuela supports the choice of finding a peaceful and political solution to the Syrian conflict. Also the representative of Brazil spoke about Syria yesterday.

The representative of Brazil said that the smuggling of weapons into Syria only leads to an increase of the bloodshed and violence on Syrian soil and certainly not to peace or a peaceful solution for the crisis in Syria.

The Deputy Representative of Brazil to the UN, Regina Maria Cordeiro Dunlop, also warned of the repercussions of the arming of extremist groups and al-Qaeda-linked jihadists in Syria.

Regina Maria Cordeiro Dunlop said yesterday that a prevention is always the best policy to “restrict the dangers of armed conflicts and causalities associated to them,” and the representative of Brazil is certainly correct with this statement. However, not all members of the UN Security Council (UNSC) are capable or willing to follow such a logic.

Finally, also the Representative of the European Solidarity Front for Syria, Patrick Fondak, spoke about Syria recently and he stressed that the Arab nation is facing a foreign meddling based on a “flagrant western support to the armed groups.”

Patrick Fondak said further (in an interview with the Czech Halo Noviny newspaper) that “the Syrian people stand at one side”, while the armed “extremists from the regional and foreign countries, which are financed by Qatar, are standing on the other side” of the Syrian conflict. Fondak, the Representative of the European Solidarity Front for Syria, has pointed out in this new interview that Western governments strongly support the armed terrorist groups in Syria and he warned against the increasing number of European citizens who are traveling to Syria in order to fight in the ranks of the terrorist and jihadist groups against the secular Syrian government and President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus as well as against the Syrian Arab army (SAA), which consists of all parts of the Syrian society. Patrick Fondak warned that these globetrotting armed jihadists put the security of all European countries at stakes in case they return to their homelands.

The Representative of the European Solidarity Front for Syria called the decision of the European Union (EU) to lift the arms embargo on the terrorist groups in Syria, while the EU has intensifying the ban on sending goods to the civilians in Syria, a pure “scandal” and this is certainly completely correct – these decisions by the European Union (EU) represent a violation of international law as well as a violation of humanity.

Patrick Fondak finally announced in his interview with the Czech Halo Noviny newspaper that the European Front will organize an event on August 31 at the Vatislav Square in Prague in order to protest against these biased EU decision.

It’s very, very good that Iraqi forces have gotten off the dime! Also very good that Brazil and Venezuela are telling Obama to get stuffed. A great day!
