Syria: SNC urges Transitional Council with Full Powers

Syria - Al Qabun

Western-backed Syrian National Coalition (SNC) attends Geneva-2 conference if transitional government is on the table for Syria.

The US-backed “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) will attend the upcoming and long-delayed international peace conference on the Syrian conflict (Geneva-2) if there is the chance that a transitional government will be established with full powers and it was previously clear that the so-called “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) will only participate at the Geneva-II conference with certain preconditions.

However, while it remains questionable whether anybody should take a so-called “opposition” serious that urges a war against the own home land, it is also known that the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently spoke about the plans to finally implement the ideas of the first conference in Geneva after the second peace conference on Syria has ended. And this would include a transitional institution for Syria, but with different qualifications than the foreign-supported “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC).

Russia’s Foreign Minister Lavrov said that all parties in Syria have to agree on a transitional institution in order to make it happen and to establish such a institution for Syria. Not to mention that Moscow has no real interests to support the establishment of a transitional government with full powers for the so-called “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) and to repeat any kind of a Libyan scenario.

However, the Saudi-backed president of the “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) urged the installation of a transitional government with full powers in exchange for the participation of his dubious Coalition at the long-planned Geneva-2 conference on Syria. The Saudi tool at the head of the questionable “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC), Ahmad Jarba, made this statement in a letter to the UN Security Council (UNSC).

The so-called president of the “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) said in this letter that his Coalition is ready to participate in an upcoming conference in Geneva but only when all parties agree that the final purpose of the next Geneva conference on Syria is the establishment of a transitional government with full executive powers. Such statements by the Saudi-backed president of the “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) sound very democratically and again show the level of how much interest this US-backed opposition has in peace for the Syrian people. No interest at all.

Of course, while the so-called “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) calls for the establishment of a transitional government with full powers for Syria and will only participate at the long-delayed Geneva-2 conference on Syria if this precondition is met by all parties as the final result of this so-called peace conference, the “Coalition” also supports the request by Washington to include a reference to the Chapter 7 of the UN Charter in the upcoming resolution at the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Syria.

However, one may say that the letter by the Saudi-backed president of the questionable “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) at least represents the first clear statement and commitment from this strange coalition, which has been initially established to function as the political tool for the anti-Syria alliance behind the terrorism in Syria to remove the President al-Assad and his mainly secular government in Damascus.

And while some Western and Arab governments and regimes such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, France, Britain, the United States and Germany still sell the dubious “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC) as the allegedly legitimate representative of the Syrian people, although the supported “opposition coalition” called for a US-led bombardment of their own people in Syria, it is questionable whether e.g. Russia will accept such a revealing precondition by the Israeli-backed “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC).

Here’s a thought: provide the SNC with a flock of the Tunisian slutbombs – – with any luck, they’ll pass on ‘The Black C*ck from Bankok’, or at the very least a dose of crabs and Bullhead Clap.
