The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar published most of the details of this story in October last year, and was published today again by the French magazine that was unique with some interesting additions, in its investigation under the title Qatar Gate or scandal of Qatar author of 15 pages.

The French magazine added, that a few weeks after the meeting, FIFA announced Qatar had won the right to host the World Cup in 2022, amid the distraught remaining candidates, with later in 2011 Qatar Investments purchasing 70 percent of shares of the Paris Club “St Germain”, and also launched Qataris network BNP Sports channel run by Al Jazeera Sports which holds the broadcast first division games rights Tournaments.
The magazine in addition also revealed an internal electronic message that was leaked from the Secretary-General of the International Federation of Football Jerome Falk “I bought 2022 World Cup” to which in a failed attempt to defend himself, Falk’s reply to the letter leaked by saying ” you want to talk about the financial capacity of Qatar I would have never hinted to buy votes. “
The investigation also revealed the amounts paid by Qatar to the African members of the FIFA Executive Committee especially Issa Hayatou and Jack A’nou, who each received the amount of 5.1 million euros.
The magazine also pointed out that Qatar in 2010 spent what amounted to 25.1 million euros for the care of the Assembly of the African Union, as a form of pressure in order to get the four votes of its members in the FIFA Executive Committee.
The magazine confirmed that it will hand over evidence in its possession to the International Federation of Football who has previously in 2011 wanted to open an investigation into the issue of payed Qatar bribes to win and host the 2022 World Cup, but closed the file for lack of evidence.
In the first official reactions to the investigation Platini described the magazine’s statements regarding Qatar paying bribes to host the 2022 World Cup as lies.
In evidence of the seriousness of the issue this time Platini was quick to deny the statement in the investigation, through a statement in which he said, “the belief that the option of Qatar was based on a compromise between the French state and Qatar is purely speculation and only benefits those who write these lies,” pointing out that he will not hesitate to prosecute anyone questioning his integrity in this vote.
Platini defended his position and Sarkozy, saying “President Sarkozy would not have permitted himself to ask me to vote for Qatar 2022, because he knows that I am a free man.”
Platini revealed “a few weeks before the vote, President Sarkozy invited me to a dinner party,” and stressed that the choice of Qatar is all independent and by following a simple logic, which is opening up unprecedented hosting of major sporting events by Countries…JA
