Syria Criticizes Western States for Hampering of Political Solution

Syrian conflict: Certain Western governments hinder diplomatic process.

After Russia has in principle criticized certain Western states for the baseless accusations against the Syrian government of President Bashar al-Assad that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) would have used chemical weapons in attacks against terrorists and Syrian civilians in suburbs of Damascus last month, also the Syrian government has again criticized the West and especially the governments in Washington, Paris, and London.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry in Damascus criticized in a newly released statement that certain states in the West try to hinder the prospects for a political solution to the Syrian conflict and crisis and that these governments in the West wilfully hamper the political process to resolve the conflict in the Arab country.

While the new statement by the Syrian Foreign Ministry in Damascus does not include any mentioning of the Western propaganda, false information, and fabricated events, it says clearly that these Western governments hinder the peace process by imposing preconditions and their support for the armed terrorist groups fighting in Syria against the secular government of President al-Assad.

The official statement by the Foreign Ministry in Damascus says that France, Britain, and the United States have already “revealed their true objective” and that this is to “impose their will on the Syrian people.”

The statement by Syria’s Foreign Ministry from yesterday also includes the accusation that the West still supports the terrorist groups in Syria, although these groups are linked to Al-Qaeda or directly affiliated with the Syrian Al-Qaeda offshoots, for example, the Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Nusra Front).

Of course, as long as certain Western governments, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia support the terrorist groups and Al-Qaeda in Syria with money and weapons, any belief in a successful political process to resolve the conflict in Syria seems idiotic.

And as long as the terrorists fighting in Syria are supported with weapons, ammunition, and other means by certain Western states and regimes in the Middle East, the phrases about a political solution and negotiations by the backers of these terrorists groups such as the U.S. administration in Washington or the government in France are nothing else than hypocritically lies.

Of course, the new statement by the Syrian Foreign Ministry in Damascus is certainly also related to the Russian-American deal about Syria’s chemical weapons and the plan to put the chemical weapons arsenals under an international supervision of the United States (UN) and the related discussions between Washington and Moscow about the text of the upcoming resolution by the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Syria.

The U.S. administration in Washington wants a reference to the Chapter 7 of the UN Charter in the planned resolution on Syria. Such a reference would simply mean that the option to use military force against Syria is still on the table.

Of course, Washington is, besides all the talking, still interested to implement its agenda in Syria and the Middle East and this includes the removal of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad and the government in Damascus. Better dead than alive.

However, Russia and China will veto any resolution at the UN Security Council (UNSC) that includes a reference to the Chapter 7 of the UN Charter. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has already said that the upcoming resolution on Syria by the UNSC (UN Security Council) will not allow the use of military force against Syria.
