Russia: West should be honest about Machinations in Syria

Putin: West will be clueless if Al-Qaeda takes the power in Syria.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has not only said that there is evidence that the chemical weapons attack in suburbs of Syria’s capital Damascus in August was a wilfully provocation in order to trigger a foreign military intervention in Syria, but Putin has also stated that the Western governments, for example in France and Britain, will have no idea what they shall do if extremists had come to power in Syria as the result of their meddling into the Syrian conflict and all the arms supplies and funding of these sides.

Vladimir Putin added to his new remarks in terms of the Western meddling into Syria and the support for dubious groups of the so-called “opposition forces” fighting on Syrian soil against the government of President Bashar al-Assad that the West has no idea what it should do if the supported extremists would really come into power in Syria.

The Russian President also said that the Western governments should say honestly that it had started to provide external support (e.g. the so-called military aid, weapons, and logistical support) to such groups in Syria as soon as the conflict and terrorism broke out in the Arab country.

Putin also used some rhetorical questions in his recent speech about the Syrian conflict and the Western machinations regarding the extremists and militants who are fighting in Syria. For example, Russia’s President asked, “How did the terrorist group “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat al-Nusra) come into existence there?”

And he added to the rhetorical question that even the U.S. Department of State has already admitted that Al-Qaeda-affiliated groups and jihadist units are fighting on Syrian soil – while U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has recently still lied about this fact. Russia’s President Putin made these new remarks regarding Syria and the Western interference into the Syrian conflict in a speech at the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday.

And Putin even said much more in his speech. The President of Russia stated that it is not possible to “watch mass killings calmly” but when a state tries to interfere on either side, then there will be no balance anymore. Putin added that the international leaders have to find “points of contact and equilibrium that would hold for some time.”

Afterwards, Putin mentioned Libya as an example for the current situation in Syria and asked if the situation would now be better in Libya after all the foreign meddling into the country. He has then mentioned the conclusion that the way proposed to solve the problem in Libya has been proven to be the wrong way. And this is the reason, so Putin, why Russia wants to “forge constructive dialogue with the United States.”

Russia’s President Putin also spoke about the threats of the use of military force against Syria and stated that any use of force against the Arab country would certainly upset the balance of power – not only in the Middle Eastern region, but even in the world. According to Vladimir Putin, a military strike against Syria “would be a blow to the world order, not to Syria.”

The President of Russia recalled afterwards that the UN Charter had been amended, at the insistence of the United States, to include a provision, according to which matters of peace and war could be solved only unanimously and said regarding to this that “there is a deep meaning in this, no matter how hard it could be.”

Vladimir Putin finally pointed out that in the case if any country of the world, that would feel vulnerable and therefore start to deliver military strikes wherever it wants, the world order as well as the importance of the United Nations (UN) and the aligned UN Security Council (UNSC) would “be reduced to zero.”
