Iran: Syria will probably target Israel if attacked by United States.

After the Russian proposal in terms of the chemical weapons in Syria, which followed the deliberately or accidently made statement by US Secretary of State John Kerry, and the statements by two former hostages in the hands of the foreign-backed terrorists in Syria, who stated that their kidnappers have confessed to have carried out the chemical weapons attack (poison gas attack) in two suburbs of Syria’s capital Damascus, there are also some new statements from Iran. And the statements by Iranian officials and the new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran are again interesting.

According to the President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, the administration of his country is doing its utmost in order to prevent a US-led attack against Syria because of the dire consequences for the Syrian people and even for the entire region of the Middle East. Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani warned against the dire consequences of any foreign military intervention in a country of the region and said that Tehran is doing all it is able to in order to avert an US-led attack on Syria.

The new President of the Islamic Republic of Tehran also said in his new statements from today that Tehran has used all of its capacities to prevent a war in the Middle East over the last two weeks. Hassan Rouhani further stated that the Iranian administration has sent messages to several governments and key persons and that the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran is consulting with a number of countries to avert a US-led military strike on Damascus.

The Iranian President added to his new remarks in terms of Syria and the US threats that warmongers and their friends in the region will suffer the most if a war is imposed on the people of Syria. He said that Syria is of a special importance to Iran because the Syrian nation is “a member of the resistance front (against Israel).” Iran’s President said afterwards that even the UK parliament, which is the closest ally of Washington, has voted against the war on Syria.

In the meantime, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdullahian, has visited Moscow yesterday. In Moscow, the Foreign Minister of Iran held talks with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Michael Bugdanov, with the focus on the turmoil in and around Syria and increased possibility of a US-led attack on the Arab country. Both Deputy Foreign Ministers also talked about the increased rhetoric of war against Syria by certain governments in the West as well as in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the Iranian lawmaker Vahid Ahmadi, who is the Chairman of Iran’s Majlis Subcommittee on Foreign Policy, said in a new interview that Syria is ready to face any foreign attack and that the regime in Tel-Aviv and other allies of the United States in the Middle East will “surely face a response by Syria” in the case that the Obama administration will launch its war on Damascus.

The Chairman of Iran’s Majlis Subcommittee on Foreign Policy said in his interview that in case these governments will launch a military attack on Syria, “Syria will certainly target the usurper and bogus Zionist regime.” The senior Iranian lawmaker Vahid Ahmadi added that “such self-defeating repercussions” would have made the Americans “hesitant.”

While Vahid Ahmadi underlined the intense US campaign for a war on Syria to form its “axis of willing” against Damascus, the Iranian official also pointed out that the security of the Israeli regime in Tel-Aviv is threatened by the response of Syria in case if the Obama administration launches its war on Damascus.

He said that by attacking Syria, the security of Tel-Aviv “will be dealt a serious blow” and that this is also one of the reasons why the administration in the United States have delayed their military actions and would now “throw the ball into the field of Congress.” The senior lawmaker from Tehran also warned that any military strike by the United States against Syria will not “only be limited to the US and Syria.”

However, these are not all new statements by Iran in regards of the current turmoil in and around Syria and the possibility of a US-led attack on Damascus, even if the possibility of such a war against Syria might have decreased since yesterday.

The Iranian envoy to Lebanon, Ghazanfar Roknabadi, said on Monday that Tehran will do its best to prevent a new war in the Middle East and the Iranian ambassador to Beirut also warned against the dire consequences of such a war by the United States against Syria. The Iranian envoy said in a meeting with the Leader of the Lebanese Christian Free Patriotic Movement, Michel Aoun, that in case “a war is waged, its flames will consume all.”

Of course, the Leader of the Lebanese Christian Free Patriotic Movement and the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon discussed the US threats of a military strike against Syria and the possible consequences, but also possible ways to avert such a war on Damascus.

The Iranian envoy also stated that Tehran will spare no effort to prevent a new war in the Middle East and urges all sides to try everything to avert a US-led war against Syria. He added in the end that “it is necessary that all international sides and agencies as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations use all their capacity to prevent a great human tragedy in the region.”
