Geneva 2: Iran demands participation of all sides at Syria conference

The Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, Mohammad-Reza Raouf-Sheibani, said in a new statement from today that all influential parties and all sides have to attend the upcoming conference in Geneva about the topic Syria and how to solve the conflict and crisis in the Arab nation by political measures.

The Iran envoy to Syria underlined in his recent statements that the participation of all different sides is important for the upcoming Geneva conference in terms of Syria and a political solution. Mohammad-Reza Raouf-Sheibani, the Iranian Ambassador to Damascus, said further today that that “all influential players” in the Middle East and in particular Iran, have to take part in the upcoming Geneva II conference on Syria.

The Iranian envoy to Syria also said that the presence of Iran at the Geneva 2 conference on Syria will sure contribute to the settlement of the crisis and conflict in the Arab nation. Of course, the Iranian Ambassador to Syria is himself not quite convinced that all sides really want a political solution for the Syrian conflict.

For example, Mohammad-Reza Raouf-Sheibani also said today that “if there is a desire for a political solution” to the conflict and crisis in Syria, then it is “essential that all influential sides” take part in the meeting in Geneva.

The term “if” is important here because there are some sides that are certainly not so interested in a political solution to the Syrian conflict because they are already involved in the conflict in Syria since the beginning of the proxy war in the secular Arab nation.

The Ambassador from Iran also stated that his country has constantly stressed the importance for “all-inclusive national talks” and a political solution to end the ongoing conflict in Syria since the beginning of the conflict and battles in the Arab nation.

Mohammad-Reza Raouf-Sheibani also criticized the so-called (external) “Syrian opposition” for causing a huge delay in the holding of the second conference on Syria in Geneva. The Iranian envoy further added to his criticism on the external staged “Syrian opposition”, that the “divided opposition feels weakened in the face of the Syrian Army”.

In addition, the Iran envoy added that the “balance of power in Syria is in favour of the Syrian Arab Army” and the government of Bashar al-Assad in Damascus. Raouf-Sheibani also noted that the “resistance of the Syrian people has helped to strengthen the Syrian army.”

The fact that Taliban are being brought into Syria by wholesale tells anyone who cares what the ‘political solution’ will end up being: “Last man standing wins.” The only way to ‘deal’ with Taliban is with bullets or bayonets.
