LG Enact: Slider Phone with QWERTY Keyboard

LG Enact: Slider Smartphone with Qualcomm Processor.

The known smartphone manufacturer LG has officially unveiled the new slider smartphone, the LG Enact, in the United States.

The new android smartphone by LG, the Enact, is equipped with a physical QWERTY keyboard and confirms that these kind of phones are still somehow alive – after e.g. the HTC Desire Z, and there is a target group of users who are really interested in such smartphones with a physical QWERTY keyboard.

Of course, for reasons because it is often easier to write longer text messages or even articles with a physical QWERTY keyboard than an onscreen keyboard and not everybody is interested to carry a larger tablet pc with him.

However, the hardware under the hood of the new slider phone from LG (Enact) makes it clear that the smartphone with Android is a so-called middle-class phone for the US market (initially).

Under the hood of the latest Android slider phone by LG is a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor (Snapdragon 400), clocked at 1.2 GHz. The display of the LG Enact will be around 4 inch big and according to the information, the screen of the LG Enact features a resolution of 800×480 pixels.

The camera on the rear of the LG Enact can take pictures with just 5 megapixels and the front camera of the new Android slider phone is capable of taking pics with a VGA resolution. The internal storage is 8GB. However, the internal storage can be extended with an external micro-SD card – up to 64GB.

The mobile operating system Android is preinstalled in version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. However, LG puts its own user interface on the Android UI, and thus, it is questionable how fast and how often the LG Enact will receive system updates (Android – e.g. Android 5.0 at the end of this year…).

The LG Enact is capable of LTE and the slider features a full QWERTY keyboard with five rows.

Initially, the LG Enact is only available in the United States and the slider smartphone with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean will cost around $ 350 (about 260 euros) without a contract. Whether the LG Enact will be available on other markets, e.g. in the Middle East and Europe, is so far still questionable.
