cuba warns foreign military intervention syria

Cuba

After the warnings by a former US Marine, Cuba warned against the unpredictable risks of a foreign military intervention by foreign powers or even NATO forces in Syria. The Cuban administration said that the risks are too high for a real foreign intervention in Syria.

According to the statements by the Cuban administration, such a military intervention in the Arab nation by foreign powers would bear several dangerous repercussions on the international peace as well as on the security levels – not only in the Middle East.

Cuba’s Representative to the UN, Rodolfo Reyes, said today, during a next session of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on the Middle East, after the threats that Israel will again attack Syria by the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations from yesterday’s session at the UNSC, that the use of the term “protection of civilians” as a pretext for a direct military intervention or the support of terrorists and mercenaries in Syria is a crime. Cuba’s Representative to the UN, Rodolfo Reyes, condemned the use of such a pretext by several Western governments in order to justify their dubious actions since two years in terms of Syria and the ongoing conflict in the Arab nation.

Rodolfo Reyes also expressed worries about the ongoing calls by several sides to “change the regime” in Syria because in the opinion of Cuba’s Representative to the UN, Rodolfo Reyes, the overthrow of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government in Damascus would certainly lead to an increase of the violence and terrorism in Syria.

Cuba’s Representative to the UN, Rodolfo Reyes, further said that Cuba rejects the attempts of several NATO member states to obtain the UN Security Council’s approval for a direct military intervention in Syria. Reyes also noted that the mission by NATO should be the protection of the people and certainly not an interference that is aimed to only achieve the interests of the states that have formed and established the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

He further stated at the session of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on the Middle East today, that the United Nation (UN) has the duty to enhance peace and not violence. In addition, he said that it is also a duty of the UN to prevent any destabilization of countries such as Syria, instead of supporting such acts and to contribute to the funding and arming of the armed terrorists groups in Syria.

While Rodolfo Reyes pointed out that the Israeli regime has been intentionally violating the resolutions of the United Nations (UN), which is a threat for the security and stability of the Middle East, he called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to finally act and to play an important role in maintaining the international security and peace by the adoption of tangible steps against the Israeli regime in order to stop them from their violations against the Palestinian people.

In addition, Rodolfo Reyes finally said that the violations of the UN resolutions by Israel are nothing else than a breach of human rights, every single day.
