Venezuela and Cuba oppose US-led military strike against Syria.

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, has sent a letter to the US President Barack Obama in order to urge him to stop any kind of war preparations against Syria and to forget about the military strike on Damascus because of the dire consequences of such a possible military action on Syria for the Syrian people and even for the entire region of the Middle East.

The Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro further called upon the US administration of Barack Obama in Washington to resort to peaceful and political measures and not to carry out any kind of military actions against the Syrian government in Damascus. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro also affirmed the position of his country in regards of a possible US-led strike on Syria in his letter to the US President in Washington. The letter by the President of Venezuela said that the country will join the side which rejects a military attack by Washington against the Syrian nation.

In the meantime, not only the addressed US President Barack Obama and the Israeli Prime Minister had a telephone conversation in recent days, but also the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Elias Jaua Milano, and the Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, have carried out a telephone conversation in order to discuss the increased rhetoric of war by Washington against Damascus and the possibility of an US-led military strike against Syria, but also possible ways of how to solve the current serious turmoil.

Both the Venezuelan Foreign Minister and his Iranian counterpart reject the use of foreign military forces against Syria. Both Foreign Ministers called on the international community to resort the current turmoil and the Syrian conflict through political methods and negotiations between all sides that are involved in the current conflict in Syria.

While the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has urged the US administration of Barack Obama in Washington to share their “information about the evidence” behind their claims against the Syrian government that it has used chemical weapons (poison gas / e.g. Sarin nerve agent) against Syrian civilians near the capital Damascus and also stated that there is so far no convincing evidence for these accusations by Washington against Damascus, also the administration of Cuba has published its rejection of any US-led strike on Syria. Further, the recent statement by the Foreign Ministry of Cuba has also called on the world public to conduct anti-war protests in order to prevent such a horrible scenario.

The statement of the Cuban Foreign Ministry said that Cuba strictly condemns any military action by Washington against Syria and that any military strike by the United States against Damascus would violate international law as well as the UN Charter. The statement by Cuba has further underlined that any military strike on Syria will only increase the bloodshed, violence and destruction in the Arab country and also escalate the conflict and crisis in Syria.

Cuba called upon the UN Security Council (UNSC), just like the Syrian government recently, to do its job and thus, to prevent such violations by Washington. The statement by the Cuban Foreign Minister also stated that the UN General Assembly has to convene “urgently in order to prevent any aggression against Syria.”

In the end, the statement also said that Cuba hopes that the US Congress in Washington will follow the example of the British House of Commons that has voted against a participation in a US-led war on Syria. Afterwards, Cuba called on all opinion makers and opinion leaders in the United States to use logical thinking in terms of the dire consequences of a possible US-led war against Syria and to then reject any illegal war against other countries.

Hm. Hezbollah, by all accounts, is well trained and equipped with modern infantry weapons; a fair percentage of them are combat experienced. They won’t be a walk over, that’s for sure.
