Britain: Support for Russia’s Chemical Weapons Deal on Syria

UK Foreign Secretary William J. Hague

British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Syria: Stagings and lies.

While the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will discuss the proposal and four-stage plan by Moscow about Syria’s chemical weapons arsenals and an international supervision for them with his American counterpart, US Secretary of State John Kerry, in Geneva after the open letter by President Vladimir Putin for the American people and the Obama administration in Washington, also the British administration seems ready to support Russia’s proposal to put the chemical weapons in Syria under an international control by the United Nations (UN) and to destroy them later.

After the British Prime Minister David Cameron has recently already implied that the UK administration will probably support Russia’s proposal to place the Syrian chemical weapons stockpiles under an international supervision by the United Nations (UN), also the British Foreign Secretary William Hague, known for his support for the armed terrorist groups fighting in Syria against the secular government of President al-Assad, has now signalled that he will support the Russian proposal and thus, also the four-stage plan by Moscow in terms of Syria’s chemical arsenals and to put the chemical stockpiles under an international supervision.

The Chinese government as well as the Iranian administration in Tehran and the so-called Arab League (AL) already support Russia’s proposal, including several Western governments and other involved sides. In addition, the Syrian government in Damascus and President Bashar al-Assad have agreed to cede its chemical weapons and relevant documents were already submitted to the United Nations (UN). Thus, Syria is probably going to join the Chemical Weapons Convention.

It is also to mention that the recent propaganda by some European media agencies such as the national TV channel of Germany about the chemical weapons arsenals on Syrian soil and that nobody has ever spoken about it is simply wrong. Even normal citizens in European states, who know a bit about Syria, knew that there are stockpiles with chemical weapons. It was never a secret. However, it is probably in the view of these European TV channels and their duty to maintain the propaganda against Syria understandable that they have yet again used false information in regards of Syria’s chemical weapons.

And this even when it seems that a US-led war on Syria can be avoided and these Western media agencies and TV channels should support the prevention of a new war. However, some media reports suggest the sad situation that several Western journalists do not support the prevention of a new war.

Just as in the time of the US-led military intervention in Iraq and the war on this country, based on false information and fabricated documents as well as on the propaganda, also carried out by the mass media, it seems that some journalists have not learned anything or have a really intense duty to support the plans by some powers. Although these plans are dangerous – for the Syrian people as well as for the entire Middle East and some would even say that a US-led military attack on Syria would even be dangerous for the entire world.

At least, on the government levels of several Western states, there is no real chance to not support Russia’s proposal on the chemical weapons stockpiles in Syria. Every rejection of the proposal and the submitted four-stage plan by Russia to the United States would reveal their real interests and the support of a war of aggression against a secular country in the Middle East, which is again based on fabricated evidence and false propaganda.

Further, a US-led war on Syria would boost the terrorism in the Middle East and also support the terrorist organization of Al-Qaeda, once established by the United States, according to Hillary Clinton. Not to mention the dire consequences of any US-led military action against Damascus for the Syrian people and the entire Middle East and that the possible reactions by Syria’s allies (e.g. Iran) are not really foreseeable.

The British Foreign Secretary William Hague seems (pretends) to support Moscow’s initiative on Syrias chemical weapons. William Hague said in his last speech at the British House of Commons that the Russian proposal has to be taken seriously and that the “sincerity” of Russia’s initiative on the chemical weapons on Syrian soil has to be tested. Thus, British Foreign Secretary William Hague in principle repeated the words by the British Prime Minister David Cameron.

The British Foreign Secretary William Hague also said in front of the House of Commons in London that the UN Security Council (UNSC) has to pass a resolution that determines a deadline for the placement of the chemical weapons arsenals in Syria under an international control by the United Nations (UN). While such a deadline about the placement of Syria’s chemical stockpiles under an international supervision should be no problem, a deadline on the destruction of these chemical weapons in Syria would be a real problem. As stated in previous articles on this matter, the destruction of the chemical weapons from Syria will take time.

This will not happen in the next year and certainly not in the next 2-3 years. The best solution for the destruction of these chemical weapons stockpiles would probably be to establish a relevant installation in the desert of the Arab country and to destroy the chemical weapons there – under an international control, of course. Not to mention that the organization for the control of Syria’s chemical weapons arsenals should also have a military component and one has to think about Russia in these regards. There is a specific Russian organization which could be relevant in this matter.

The British Foreign Secretary William Hague also said at the House of Commons that the British government remains “committed to helping bring about a political settlement.” However, under consideration of the machinations by the UK administration, their involvement in the Syrian conflict and all the statements and propaganda by William Hague and David Cameron, this statement about the commitment of the UK administration in regards of Syria and the conflict as well as the US war threats against Damascus was probably a pure lie and nothing else.

Not to mention that the British Foreign Secretary William Hague had a meeting with so-called leaders of the foreign-backed “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC), which supports a US-led military strike on Syria, despite the dire consequences of such a war on Syria for the Syrian people. In this meeting between the British Foreign Secretary William Hague and the so-called “Syrian National Coalition” (SNC), which does not seem to really care about the Syrian people when they support a US-led war on Syria, both sides discussed ways how the UK administration can still support the opposition forces fighting in Syria.
