President Assad: Military Strike on Syria Still not Ruled Out

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad

Syria’s President al-Assad doesn`t rule out US-led attack on Syria.

Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad said yesterday that he has not yet ruled out the possibility that the United States launch a military strike on his country Syria, despite the US-Russian agreement on the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal and the joining of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) by the Arab country.

In his statements, the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has underlined his opinion that a US-led military strike on Syria could be still possible, despite the recent agreement between Moscow and Washington on Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles, by citing such as examples as Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iraq, but also Korea and Lebanon. Bashar al-Assad said that the United States wage wars – either directly or indirectly, and that this has already happened in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

The Syrian President al-Assad added that it is not to mention what the U.S. administration has done in South America, where the United States has instigated several “coups and caused the deaths of millions of people.” It is probably understandable why the Syrian President has not yet completely ruled out the possibility of a US-led military strike on his country due to these sad examples of the direct and indirect wars of the United States in recent history.

However, it is to hope that a US-led military attack on Damascus won`t happen because any military action against Syria would only worsen the Syrian crisis and trigger dire consequences for the Syrian people and also for the entire region of the Middle East. Not to mention that a US-led war on Syria has even the possibility to lead to a full-scale war and thus, under consideration of possible reactions by the so-called allies of the Syrian government, it could even trigger a new World War (WWIII).

In terms of the statements by Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad from yesterday about the still present possibility that the United States under lead of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Barack Obama launch a military strike against Syria, it is certainly to mention that the upcoming resolution at the UN Security Council (UNSC) will actually include a reference to the Chapter 7 of the UN Charter.

And while this means that there is a possible option that the United States and its allies as well as their proxies in the Middle East could use (military) force against Syria in order to “restore international peace”, the inclusion of this reference to the Chapter VII (Chapter 7) of the UN Charter also means that the US attempts to blackmail Russia was partly successful.

At least, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia has confirmed that the resolution by the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Syria is likely to be finalized in the next two days and that the UNSC resolution on Syria will include a reference to the Chapter 7 of the UN Charter. However, the Russian Minister also said that this does not really mean that this reference allows a possible (military) use of force against Damascus.

In regards of the examples, mentioned by Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad, to underline the usual behaviour of the United States and the direct and indirect wars of Washington (Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq), this seems valid. IN particular in terms of South America and the instigated coups by Washington. Also the claim by the Syrian President al-Assad that the United States has caused the deaths of millions of people in South America seems valid and correct – and not only in South America, but also in the Middle East. Sadly.

The Syrian President Bashar al-Assad also said that the possibility for a US-led military offensive against Syria will always be present and has nothing to do with any agreements between the United States and Russia or with Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal. Bashar al-Assad pointed out that the potential for a military strike by the United States against Damascus is always given, either under the pretext of the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) against its own people “or at other times under different pretexts.”

Syria’s President al-Assad then stated that the United States always try to use their influence at the United Nations (UN) and that Washington is continually forgoing the United Nations. Al-Assad accused the U.S. administration in Washington of continually forgoing the United Nations, “violating all human and moral values.”
